into the night rallye team proudly presents\
    TOTAL RECALL
An 8 hour Monte Carlo style Road Rally
    April 12, 2008

ALL LEGAL VEHICLES WELCOME. ALL PAVED ROADS. NO SPECIAL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED.
Everybody likes to drive the back roads. You know, those beautiful two-lanes sweeping through miles and miles of open country? What if somebody put together the best roads they could find into a kind of giant
board game with your car for a game piece and the landscape for a board?

This is not a race. However, opportunities for spirited driving will abound. All timing is set at or below posted speed limits. Paved roads only. 2 people per car (driver and navigator) are strongly suggested. Event runs rain or shine.
There are 4 classes: Beginner, Novice, Regular, and Expert. We suggest you bring a clipboard, pen, paper, 3 different colored highlight markers, and a good digital clock that allows you to set the seconds. (A stopwatch is not the best choice.) Binoculars, calculator, and hiking compass, if available, are also helpful. The entry fee for this event is only $25 per car.

Entry is FREE if either driver or navigator is a first time entrant.

All entries must bring vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and driver's license to Start. For more details on this rally, or rallying in general, browse our website at www.itnrally.org.

If the lights are timed at 35 mph, can we assume they are timed at 70 mph as well???

You know, I never even thought about it, I can't see them saying no...but I haven't checked the rules in a while (I'm one of the vamps that has done TD rally stuff before).
    Can you fly, bobby?

Sure. You attach the clip board to one wrist and the three high lighters to the other with some string and you're good to go.

no, its not intended to be run on a motorcycle. i don't know that you could at this point. i would recommend that anyone who wanted to try this should run it in a car first to understand how it works. as i have posted in the past, i would like to create something like this for motorcyclists, and it would be way helpful if i had some people run so as to help me figure out the details.

no, i don't think an enduro is quite the same. although i have never actually competed in one.

can they be done on the street? at legal speed? do they have timed checkpoints? has anyone competed in one?

the enduro rules start at section 11.2 and end at 11.4

enduros can be run on pavement only

the timing section breaks down the idea fairly well, and might give you a good idea of how to organize your event

                    is that silly, or sthilly?

the enduro works a little differently then the rally i am doing. it does look like a lot of fun though.

these rallies do test your endurance to an extent. they last anywhere from 6 to 18 hours and most go well into the night.

An 18 hour car trip at enforced speed limits does not sound even remotely fun.

You do this why? Is there a $K's payout?

no money. this rally is only 8 hours. half the challenge is figuring out where the checkpoints are based on the info you are given. people are not always right. we have a maximum penalty of 500 points so people will not try to speed to make it if they take a wrong turn. to make it more interesting.... i have HEARD of people "accidentally" making a wrong turn so as to force themselves to make up time. but i certainly don't condone this kind of activity, or any kind of unsafe activity, as the rallymaster.

its not up to us to enforce the speed limit. policemans enforce the speed limit. we time the event at legal speed, other wise it would be a race.

and as far as the speed limits go... the legal speed on most highways, or two lane roads with no posted limit is 55. can you imagine going 55 across Jameson creek? for example.

                        spirited driving will abound.

routes for the rally can be downloaded on the website. it is important you use the maps on the site as this is a map based rally.
