SANTA CRUZ
Stolen motorcycle found for sale
Acting on a tip, sheriff's deputies tracked down a stolen motorcycle advertised in an online classified ad, arranged to meet the seller in a vacant lot on the outskirts of Santa Cruz, seized the bike and arrested a 22-year-old man Saturday, the Sheriff's Office reported.
The motorcycle, a 2007 Honda CRF 150R, caught deputies' attention because it was listed at about half the price of similar bikes, Sgt. Dan Campos said.
"He clearly said in the listing that the bike didn't have paperwork, which added to deputies' suspicions," Campos said.
So plainclothes deputies met the seller, Anthony Fambrini of Santa Cruz, on Dufour Street around 4 p.m. Saturday. They detained him and ran the VIN number of the bike, which showed it was registered to an Aptos man, Campos said.
The Aptos man told deputies the motorcycle was stolen in September. The motorcycle was returned.
Fambrini was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and booked into County Jail.
