  • Santa Cruz Meet Point?  Need Advice

Hi Folks, I posted a non-Vampires event here on the forums a few moments ago. Riders at the SBR forums suggested I come here to let you know about the Pashnit Hurricane Relief Rally we are planning for September 18.

Since I live near Sacramento, I am a bit handicapped in planning al the meet points for the Rally. I was hoping one of you could make a recommendation on where the Relief Rally should come together in Santa Cruz. Riders will be departing from Alice's riding Hwy 35 to Hwy 9 and into Santa Cruz.

Where would you recommend a meet stop for 20-30 riders on a Sunday around 9:30am? Can you recommend a large parking lot near a couple of gas stations? Some place easy to reach from where Hwy 9 comes into Santa Cruz?

I'd be very grateful for any advice. Please have a look at the event I've posted and consider riding with us or sponsoring a rider.

    Thanks very much!! ;D

Thanks much for the advice. I'll check it out and plug it into MS Streets and Trips. I'm hoping to find a meet point with a large parking lot and maybe a couple of gas stations where riders can prep to head out for Carmel. I'll post an update when the meet spot and routing are finalized. 8)

You are almost better getting off 9 in Felton and cutting across into Scotts Valley and using one of their many shopping centers and the 76 station in Scotts Valley is one of the cheapest in the county. Actually, right after 76, there is that parking lot on the right where the drive through coffee place is, very secluded. Then you just jump the freeway (highway 17) last couple miles of this part and it merges into highway 1, where you need to be to head down south.

Andy, you're a man of many words.

As of 5:00 am today, the price of 87 octane at Chevron and Shell, 41st Ave in Capitola was roughly the same as Scotts Valley @ $2.859/gallon.

Re: Santa Cruz Meet Point?  Need Advice

Here in Folsom yesterday it was $3.15 for regular at the less expensive stations. Today it has dropped to the uber-reasonable sum of $3.09. ???

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Per another member's advice I PM'd elfboy and will be taking his suggestion for a meet point at the 76 station at Water & Ocean Sts.

I'll post an update over in the Events forum with further details on the ride, including the S.C. meet point.

Thanks everyone for you interest and assistance. Much obliged!!
