ASPEN, Colo. (AP) -- Hunter S. Thompson, the hard-living writer who inserted himself into his accounts of America's underbelly and popularized a first-person form of journalism in books such as "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," has committed suicide.

I've read a lot of Thompson books, essays and articles, interviews with him, even a few literary critiques.The Fear and Loathing movie was great too. It was such a big deal in my house that I got a call from my housemate when she heard the news. He'll be missed.
