  • All American Woes

So many of you know of the bike woes I've been having with the VFR and All American...well it gets even better. Here's the full rant.

Worn wire in the tip over circuit that was diagnosed for them.
1 Week to repair. If I had known that long I would've taken the time myself.

    Repair a stator under warranty.
7 Weeks...with plenty leading on with 'next week I promise' type of items. Two weeks of this was parts backorder...on an '04?

Anyways...enough history. Now for the new stuff

8 days out of the shop, on the way to the Vampires meeting, the front electrics go nuts and strand me in Scotts Valley. Reluctantly, and somewhat bone-headedly I drop it off at All American yet again since it's probably going to be warranty work with the symptoms it's showing (turn signal causing the dash to blink?? etc...).

On Friday morning, i get told, diagnosis Tues or Wed. at the latest. On Thursday I get told the next week if we get another tech.

Fuck that. I've been down this path before and no thanks. This is my daily rider/commuter. I tell them to get the bike ready for me to pick up, and talk to the shop I should've taken it to in the first place (Honda of San Mateo for the record). They've always done right before for services, but that implies a running bike to drop off there.

They can see it that Friday if I can get it to them. Logistics of work/transport intervene and I tell them Tuesday (closed Monday like most shops)

I drop it off Tuesday 11am...

    It's ready at 1pm...

It seems that the 'techs' at All American did not do a very good job connecting back all the various electrical components they ripped apart while doing the stator (including the 02 sensor??). So basically my wiring harness was vibrating itself apart, hence all the bizarre symptoms.

So in essence. Fsck em. I doubt All American will ever see another dollar of mine.
I've got your mother's maiden name tattooed on my arm...

    Un. Fucking. Real.

The guys at San Mateo are quick and friendly... and they've seen a few of us go in and out of there a bunc when some of us worked up that direction. They've done tires, chains, fluid changes, sprockets, etc all in the span of a lunch break. They'll even call the pub across the street when they're done with your bike, so the bartender can let you know it's ready (they have awesome food )
    Ride More. Bitch Less.
