Oldie but goodie. I first heard it, when I was still married to my (ex) wife, who was Russian- like this:
heaven is where the houses are british, the salary is american, the wives are Russian, and the food is chinese.
hell is where the food is british, the houses chinese, the salary russian, and the wives are American. -
I heard it from an Italian in amsterdam a couple of days ago. He had switched the Italian and French roles in heaven - Italian lovers, French chefs."Mathematics are the result of mysterious powers which no one understands, and which the unconscious recognition of beauty must play an important part.
