X Box 360 or PS3?

    X Box 360 or PS3?

    So it appears that the new GTA IV will be released only for these two consoles. I bought my PS2 solely to play GTA San Andreas and thought the game was worth the price of the console. I only ever tried a few other PS3 titles and aside from Burn Out Revenge they all sucked.

    I'm considering buying a new console just for the new GTA title but not sure which one to get. they both come with various model choices with different options that I really don't understand all that well.

    It seems I see Xbox as the console of choice among you but why? Cheaper cost? better features and games? What other games are worthwhile for these machines that would make one console a better purchase than the others?

    My preferred genre is FPS games but I prefer a PC platform as a keyboard and mouse are easier for me to use than a controller. I bought Hitman Contracts for PS2 and the controls were so horrible I never finished the training level. The game is still in the corner after I threw it at the wall.

    I probably won't ever use the multi player online functions or use it for other media. I don't have Hi def. anything and don't really care. I don't watch much TV or too many movies anyways but if one had any up and coming technology that will/may be prevelant soon (such as Blu Ray) I'd like to hear opinions.

    Let me know what you all think.

    Oh yeah, if any of you is selling one of these consoles to upgrade to a better system let me know.

    If you truly don't care about playing any other games, then I might go with the PS3, as it plays bluray discs out of the box, while the 360 went with a separate drive to play HD DVDs, now going the way of the beta max. PS3 will also integrate a little better into the rest of your home theater equipment in it's black finish, hiding nicely with your other DVD player, receiver, etc. The 360 looks like a child's toy in white/lime green.

    However, the 360 is cheaper, and I think it's got the PS3 beat on games selection hands down (even if you don't count Halo), if only because it's been on the market longer.

    Short answer: fuck it. buy both.

      Home theater equipment?

      You haven't ever been to my house have you?

      I'd be interested in other games that don't suck as well as GTA 4

        what is GTA 4? is that a shootem up game?
        If the lights are timed at 35 mph, can we assume they are timed at 70 mph as well???

              thats what i thought it was.... but i couldn't remember the exact name. i have no advice for you.

              i can tell you about my Wii! its fun.

                Yeah I guess. 'Specialy if you need to built masturbatory wrist muscles and got a thing for midget plumbers...

                I just can't visualize a growed up man playing with such a thing.

                Pro tip. Playing Golf or tennis on a Wii will not improve your backhand or swing. Also saying "Wii" in public will make women giggle and point at you behind your back.

                    Hey Lon, I'm a 360 Gamer guy and I'm gonna go out and get a PS3 for everything else.

                    PS3 is a better platform for peripherals.

                      So next month the 80GB PS3 comes out packaged with the new Dual shock 3 controller and the latest Metal Gear Solid title at no cost increase from the previous $500 and I plan on picking one up.

                      Peripherals include a mouse and keyboard for web surfing. Anyone know if the keyboard and mouse can be configured as a controller input for FPS games or whether a Logitech USB mouse can be used in place the PS3 version? Also taking recommendations for worthwhile PS3 games.

                            I prefer xbox360, personally. I play COD4 mostly though.

                            I may give in and get a PS3 soon...
