  • new HID

I just started the fab. work on this upgrade for the CR500, I sourced parts and fab. many to save on cost. I have to road test the light output to see if it's any better than stock BAJA lamp setup, yes it is daylight compared but the pattern is something that needs a road test at night. One down side is the voltage to fire the HID,won't fire when at idle so I jumped in a AUX. battery for testing.

Rockin! I'm working on a new lighting system for the KTM right now. I scrapped the HID idea because of the voltage issue at idle. I thought about putting a battery in line, but didnt want to deal with it.
Instead i've gone with a 10Watt offroad led. It only puts out about the same as the halogen, but i'm more interested in the form factor right now than the overall light output.

I may have a fix for the low voltage soon with a diode array. I think Electrosport has some LED lights for bikes.

LEDs are getting quite powerful these days. In a few more years we may begin to see production cars hitting the road with LED headlights.
