  • GPS lcd screen repairs?

I managed to crack the LCD screen on my Garmin nuvi. I'm almost positive it's only the LCD since the touch screen still navigates.

Garmin charges $70 for the overhaul on this unit, but it's close to what I paid for it, so I'm looking for parts at something less than that price point (and maybe a basic tutorial, but I'm pretty sure it's just a harness disconnect and reconnect).

I've hunted on the interwebs for a replacement LCD on the cheap, but no luck. Any recommendations?

Watch ebay / CL for a salvaged one? Maybe you'll find one with no cables, or a fried battery for cheaper then $70...

Sorry to hear about your screen. I scratched my screen and I just deal with it, can you still use the unit? Thats the problem with machines and technology now in days, its cheaper to replace them than to fix them, so you might have to. If you have any good routes and have a few minutes if you could route out your rides on my online map. I would really appreciate it, I am trying to get routes all around the world. Please post at allstate insurance route map or allstate insurance moto map. I am an affiliate of allstate and thus I am using their web pages for this. Thanks and good luck with you GPS I am a huge fan of Garmin, so sorry it broke on ya.
