  • Keys to an awesome group ride?

    Hi Vampires,

Having ridden with y'all a couple of times I have to hand it to you, your group rides are my favorites. They seem the best organized and most fun of any I have attended.

Over on BARF, I recently posted a newbie ride around SF. The intent was to give newbies time to practice urban riding in a group setting. Basically, the more experienced riders were running interference to take off some pressure. Based on the reaction of the riders, I'm going to hold some more of these rides so I ask you:

What are your tips for a good group ride?

    I thank you in advance.

    Cootz

leader needs to be mindful of lights as to not to split up the group. make sure everybody knows about stagger formation and stop sign protocol. also, make sure everybody knows what the end point is in case the group gets seperated. anything else?

Assign designated blockers to prevent over-enthusiastic amateurs from 'helping'

I'll have some more in a bit. At work right now

Get a big push Broom for the sweep rider, Mr.B always had my back and knew how to get me home , as I was a slow-poke and lost.

I appreciate all of the input provided so far.

We probably will not need to block traffic for these small, slow speed newbie rides. I love the idea of a tiny broom for the sweep to put on their bikes.

Keep the good suggestions coming. It's greatly appreciated. Hugs for all of you next time I see you.
