Had a great time, even though I technically did not make the ride 8)

Thanks everyone for helping scrape my ass off the side of the free-way. Going to be pulling the head off tomorrow and finding out how badly seized it is. Will post pics.

(no there is not a new stackholio, just a blown XR650 motor)

I had a great time too. Thank you SF Vampires.
Here is a pic of, what I'm sure was the winning group (wasn't able to stick around for the results) Great fun running round with you guys, and Arie made a great Captain for our little band of pirates. Thanks Arie!

Yah Shane. We did win. Bonus points were awarded for my yacht harbor drenching but Arie's special pirate "sword swallowing" technique was the clincher.

It was great to meet you all (and see some familiar faces I hadn't seen in many years). I had a lot of fun, can't wait to do it again! =)

Had fun trying to kill myself on the Ducati or break it! And I didn't even do the scavenger hunt!!

Had a great time. Thanks SF.

I enjoyed the excuse to do a check out ride to the city. No gas leaks on way there or back, but now there are intermittent leaks again .

Going to be riding with the right side of the bike naked for a while to see where the problem is.

Well my oilpan had more copper glitter than a raver at Burningman.... (mounds of it under the rear catch screen)

Valves, Piston and Rings look fine, but the crank is absolutely covered. Didn't split the crankcase yet as dropping the last engine bolt requires a lock nut wrench (combo bolt with the swingarm)

Current theory is a small oil leak drained enough out that running flat out for an hour melted the crank bearings.

Thanks to all our family and friends from SC and SLO for riding up, and especially to Connar for donating a bottle of his rum as our grand prize.

Weird. I don't see how that can cause the big cloud of smoke we saw but it was black not blue so perhaps it was just a rich fuel detonation in the hot exhaust because there was no spark

Considering the amount of carbon on my license plate, that might be what caused the smoke. Still not seen the crank or the transmission though

Thanks for loading those pictures up Ziad. I'm still shaking sand out of the sleeve of my jacket and it smells like cat piss.

                          Good times.

If you haven't seen the rest of Tyler's photos yet, you really should:

I am rarely impressed with my friends' photography skillz, but I'm always impressed with Tyler's. The guy is extremely talented.

S'funny. Tyler (whom I've never met prior to that ride) turns out to be a close friend of a Mark Bagley, I guy I've known for years on the CB-1 list but never met in person.
