  • 24 Hours of Electricross April 4-5 @ SJ Motocross track

How about the Vampires enter a 24 hour endurance race at the San Jose motocross track?! Although the race is sponsored by Zero Motorcycles, any electric bikes or quads are allowed.

I was tentatively assigned a rider spot on a team for this race but the bike owner pulled out on Monday. If anyone who owns a Zero bike is seeking a rider to add to their team please let me know. I would like to compete in this race as rider or supporter and have even ridden a Zero before (briefly, LOL).

    More info at: http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/electricross/

"Zero Motorcycles, the company that brought the first American-made electric dirt bike to market, is out to set a world record by completing the first electric off road 24-hour endurance event.

Staged in the heart of San Jose at an off road motorcycle park, the Zero Motorcycles’ 24 Hours of Electricross will be recognized as the world's first all-electric endurance off road event. In the spirit of competition we are also inviting anyone with a fully electric motorcycle, quad, or ATV to participate.

Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. All entrants will also be awarded prizes for their participation. However, the lasting and most valuable award is the opportunity to have your name in the record books.

There is no entry fee and drinks and snacks will be provided. Please download and complete the forms below to confirm your spot."

Yeah spare batteries only run around 3 grand each. It is not clear at the moment if Zero will be assisting theirmotorcycle owners with spare batteries to 'borrow' or if racers will need to keep their speed under 12mph in order to conserve battery usage. I would get a kick out of putting pedals on the bike which could charge an alternate motor for use while the main battery is recharging. This race could be very fun for an imaginative bike builder!

My usual witty retorts telling you to 'Eat a dick' or 'stop being so butthurt' don't seem terribly effective here.

Oh my. This causes me to recall the great kerfluffle of '08, wherein one Mr. Jones was upset at a most delightful bylaws discussion. Oh, what fun that was!

Speaking of kerfluffle, how unfortunate that our socialism bylaw prevents us from acquiring an electric bike and outfitting a group of Vampires to enter this cool race!

                    ^^^

Doesn't this conflict with the Anniversary Party?

                      Yes..

Unless the race starts sometime early morning on the 5th.

But I'm not planning on being sober enough to take part in any race after the party.

Good catch. It appears that 6 of the 24 hours in this race conflict with our anniversary event. This is the window where our non-Vampire 'V-Stig' will take over and continue to race while we are at the party.

From the electricross FAQ at http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/electricross/faq.html

Zero Motorcycles will provide additional power packs during the race to teams racing on a Zero X.

Zero Motorcycles will provide fast chargers for all Zero X power packs.

Only one motorcycle per team can be used. The motorcycle will not be provided by Zero Motorcycles.

The track will be jump free.

The facilities provided at the track will have adequate resources for each team to be charging multiple power packs at once.

Each motorcycle, quad or ATV will have a transponder that tracks laps and times throughout the race.

There will be an official judge who officiates the race.

I got a call today from a company fielding a team in the 24hour race asking if I would join the team!

I also spoke with the track manager- The track will in fact have ALL the jumps that are there as of today come race day!

I wish any on this forum participating- best of luck!

Who knows? We may cross paths on a Motocross course in San Jose on ELECTRIC MOTOCROSS bikes at 3 AM!!! HAHA!
